The family Fernández Hidalgo inherits the extra virgin olive oil passion from their grandparents. During the hard times of the Spanish Post War, they started buying olives during the harvest to exchange the olive oil obtained for wine or wheat flour.

1952
In 1952, Manuel Fernández Durán following his fathers olive oil tradition founded together with other partners the Cooperative “Agrolea” in La Puerta de Segura (Jaén)
60´s
He was pioneer in this field opening several shops in Albacete to selling extra virgin olive oil in retail.
1983
Manuel Fernández becomes shareholder in the private Olive Oil Mill “La Moderna”, in La Puerta de Segura.
1987
He buys 100% of the shares, becoming the only owner of the Olive Oil Mill.
1989
Restoration and Expansion of the facilities increasing to double the production capacity.
1993
The company OLEFER S.L. is created, including Manuel Fernandez sons and daughters as shareholders.
2000
Relocation of the production facilities to the current placement.
2005
Modernization and expansion of the production lines.
2009
“Los Barrancos” farm purchase, that marks the completion of a cycle in which the Extra Virgin Olive Oil production is controlled throughout the entire process, from planting the olive trees in farm up to the packaging and subsequent marketing
2012
Set up of the organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil production line, and launchin of the new brand Tierras de Tavara, with a wide range of products like: olive oils, gourmet olives or organic products.
2014
First olive oil mill in Sierra de Segura specialized in Oleoturism.
